Mike
Monroe (Anthony
Edwards) was a victim of modern society, a sufferer of multiple
chemical sensitivity. Violently allergic to any toxin or chemical
around him, he escaped to the pure air of Cicely where he lived
in a geodesic dome off of Highway 3. Cured during his stay in
Cicely, Mike returned to practicing law, fighting environmental
villains for Greenpeace. Joel thought he was crazy. (top)

The
famous Elaine Shulman (Jessica
Lundy) is Joel's ex-fiancee -- her name was mentioned countless
times on the show before she actually appeared. She left Joel
for an older man, possibly embittering Joel even more. However,
she and Joel reconciled later (3.7 Roots).
Jessica Lundy
made her film debut in the film Bright Lights, Big City
(1988), and soon appeared in Vampire's Kiss (1989), and
many others. She also starred as Gloria Utz on the NBC sitcom
"Hope & Gloria" (1995). She attended NYU
and began her career writing and acting in comedy shows working
with a group in many New York City cabarets and clubs. She has
been in such stage productions as "Becoming Memories"
and "Mad Dog Blues". She starred in the off-Broad
way remake of "Uncommon Women and Others".
