Happy holidays from Denver, Colorado. No snow but it is cold!

"There's nothing like the sight of a beautiful black-as-pitch raven to get you in the Christmas spirit."

I send this box off to the next lucky person. Next time I will see it will be in Cicely when it will be suny & warm!

On to Moose Days 2003!

Minnesota
The Moose has a heavy, brown body with humped shoulders, long, lighter-colored legs, a thick, almost trunklike muzzle, and broad, flattened antlers in the male.

What would Minnesota be without out "friendly" moose --
I am proud to live in a state which is home to so many --
Warm moose hugs to all!

Minnesota
One of this states' most popular winter activities is ice fishing. Whether you sit on a bucket in the middle of the lake, or create a "shack" with (almost) all the comforts of home, the goal is the same. Come home with good memories and few fish.

I think this is a spot where Joel could relax!

We got him hunting -- how 'bout fishing (where he doesn't end up in a subway!)

Minnesota
State Bird Common Loon. Minnesota has the largest loon population in the U.S. with over 10,000 adult loons.

I sent a tiny loon along with this card. They say the loon is Minnesota's state bird - but everyone knows it's really the mosquito. They get big enough here to carry you away. Calamine lotion, anyone?

Northern Lights - "Aurora Borealis."

Northern Lights in Minnesota can be spectacular.

Bull Moose -- the bull moose (Alces americana) is the largest member of the deer family. Fully grown, they can be as tall as 7 1/2 feet at the shoulder and weight as much as 1800 pounds. The bull's distinctive palmated antlers can span more than 6 feet. Moose eat 40-50 pounds of (mostly aquatic) vegitation per day.

Here's another Minnesota Moose.

UpNorth -- A pristine treasure in Minnesota is the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. This more than one million acre wilderness lies along the Minnesoita/Canadian border in Northeastern Minnesota. The BWCAW was created by an act of Congress in 1964 for the preservation and conservation of one the nation's most unique wilderness areas. The BWCAW is home to the largest timberwolf population in the lower 48 states.

The dream of every Minnesotan is to live on a lake "Up North.".
